Hear some great music and make the world a better place

Boxjam is part of the national Oxjam music fundraiser for the charity Oxfam. Held at Crewe’s prestigious The Box venue (Boxjam – geddit), this year’s musical extravaganza has been expanded to include a second, acoustic stage in the adjacent Bar 7.

Some 27 acts are now confirmed to appear, with the Acoustic Stage kicking off proceedings at noon. The Electric Stage joins in around 4pm and will be taken to a raucous crescendo by headliners Junker around 11pm.

All this for only £3…

As well as a veritable feast of local and not-so-local musical talent, organisers have confirmed a belly-dancing display and there will be a selection of stalls and fundraising activities including a raffle offering a top prize of a recording session at Project 9 Studio.

The Acoustic Stage, hosted by Crewe-based PA and music marketing guys Angry Badgers has a real smorgasbord of talent. Local singer-songwriter Dayve Dean opens proceedings at midday and is followed by the likes of Congleton’s Phil Maddocks, duos The Valentines and Firejar, Leicester based Celtic act 6 Million Dogs, Adam Ward and Nathan Moore of Black Manalishi, Winsford-based songstress Emm Louise and excellent parodists Harry and Trev from Loughborough amongst many others.

The Electric Stage powers-up at around 4pm with Stockport rockers Mark Of A Thousand Evils taking to the stage. They will be followed by four other bands before a special Belly-Dancing display at 7.00pm. After this the evening will gather pace with grunge/folksters The BlueYellows restarting the music. Local trio Photo Booth Smile then take the stage followed by alternative stalwarts The Longshanks, Crewe legends Flux and finally alt-metal headliners Junker.

Whew – what a day!

Organiser and local photographer Simon J Newbury said “We are looking forward to a really good day. There are some excellent bands and musicians confirmed now, so please come down and support this charity event and watch some great acts”.

BOXJAM II is on Sunday October 24th at Bar 7 on Nantwich Road from Noon and The Box, Pedley Street, Crewe from 4.00pm.

Tickets are only £3.00 and are available now from The Box.
